Electronic Records
The South Carolina Department of Archives and History (SCDAH) is committed to ensuring the preservation of and access to archival electronic records created by South Carolina government. To accomplish this mission, we collaborate with state agencies, public boards and commissions, and local governments to both advise as well as to develop policies, procedures, and guidelines for the care and handling of these records. We are also active in educating state and local employees on the management of electronic information. Through our efforts we intend to foster an environment where valuable public information will be protected regardless of format.

State Agency Website Archives: Starting in 2007, the SC Archives began working with Archive-It to capture periodic snapshots of state agency websites. Archive-It is part of the Internet Archives project which is building a digital library of Internet sites. Like a paper library, it provides free access to researchers, historians, scholars, and the general public. Archived websites of state agencies are now available on-line.
