Procedures for adding names to the list of Order of the Palmetto recipients

The South Carolina Department of Archives and History will add a name to their compiled list upon documentation of the Order of the Palmetto being awarded to such persons.  Documentation may consist of one or more of the following items.

  • Legible copy of the Order of the Palmetto showing the person's name and date of award.
  • Letter from Governor's Office awarding the Order of the Palmetto to an individual.
  • Dated newspaper article/photograph/caption stating or showing the awarding of the Order of the Palmetto to an individual.
