ACTION ALERT

Contact Your US House Representative

Your assistance is needed NOW to contact SC members of the US House of Representatives to sign on as co-sponsors for the Partnership for the American Historical Record (PAHR).  This legislation would provide regular funding to the states for projects to preserve and make more accessible historical records.

Act Now!  Here is a link to the Action Alert from the PAHR Chair that provides most of what you need to know: http://www.state.sc.us/scdah/shrab/pahractionalert.htm

In contacting members of the South Carolina’s delegation, please be sure to point out that regular funding is needed to ensure a future for South Carolina's documentary heritage.  Securing numerous co-sponsors is critical to passage of PAHR.

Background:
Federal funding for historical records projects has been made available to South Carolina periodically over more than twenty years, and has assisted many useful projects.  Most has come from the funding arm of the National Archives, the National Historical Publications and Records Commission, and distributed on a competitive basis through the SC State Historical Records Advisory Board.
